Nor’ Easter Bumper

I was contacted from Nor’easter Digital as a lead animator to work directly with Kevin Mead, the creative producer at Nor’easter to create an animated bumper for their AR/VR reel they were set to put out in late February. I worked closely with Kevin, to create a bumper that worked well with their name. Below are the two versions I created for both vertical and horizontal aspect ratios. January 2021.

A Nor'easter is a storm along the East Coast of North America, so called because the winds over the coastal area are typically from the northeast. These storms may occur at any time of year but are most frequent and most violent between September and April.

A powerful name needs a powerful bumper and while ideating with Kevin Mead, he laid out his basic wants for this project. He wanted clouds, lightning, and roiling almost menacing clouds, but aside from that, he allowed me near full creative freedom. Those were all the words I needed, and after a few rough sketches in the early design phase we landed on a design. Below are a color variations for the final design, we ended up tweaking the colors a bit further in the final comp to fit Kevin Mead’s vision.
